Birendra of Nepal, King of Nepal from 1972 to 2001 (d. 2001)

Birendra Bir Bikram Shah Dev (Nepali: वीरेन्द्र वीर विक्रम शाह देव) (28 December 1945 – 1 June 2001) was the King of Nepal from 31 January 1972 until his death in 2001.

As the eldest son of King Mahendra, he reigned until his death by assassination in the 2001 Nepalese royal massacre.
