Derrick Thomas, American football player (b. 1967)
Derrick Vincent Thomas (January 1, 1967 – February 8, 2000), nicknamed D.T., was an American football outside linebacker for the Kansas City Chiefs of the National Football League (NFL). Thomas earned consensus All-American honors during his college football career at Alabama and was selected fourth overall in the 1989 NFL Draft by the Chiefs, where he played 11 seasons. Considered one of the greatest pass rushers of all time, he received nine Pro Bowl and three first-team All-Pro selections, along with holding the single-game sacks record. While still under contract with the Chiefs, Thomas died in 2000.
