Mirosław Hermaszewski, Polish general, pilot, and astronaut

Mirosław Hermaszewski (Polish: [ˈmirɔswaf ˈxɛrmaʂɛfski] (listen); born 15 September 1941) is a former Polish cosmonaut, fighter plane pilot, and retired Polish Air Force officer. He became the first, and to this day remains the only, Polish national in space when he flew aboard the Soviet Soyuz 30 spacecraft in 1978. He was the 89th human to reach outer space.
