Mikhail Ostrogradsky, Ukrainian-Russian mathematician and physicist (d. 1862)
Mikhail Vasilyevich Ostrogradsky (transcribed also Ostrogradskiy, Ostrogradskiĭ) (Russian: Михаи́л Васи́льевич Острогра́дский, Ukrainian: Миха́йло Васи́льович Острогра́дський; 24 September 1801 – 1 January 1862) was a Russian Imperial mathematician, mechanician and physicist of Ukrainian Cossack ancestry. Ostrogradsky was a student of Timofei Osipovsky and is considered to be a disciple of Leonhard Euler, who was known as one of the leading mathematicians of Imperial Russia.
