Yong Nyuk Lin, Singaporean politician, Singaporean Minister of Health (b. 1918)
Yong Nyuk Lin (Chinese: 杨玉麟; pinyin: Yáng Yùlín; 24 June 1918 – 29 June 2012) was a Singaporean politician. He was born in Seremban, Negri Sembilan, Malaysia and studied in Singapore. He was the general manager of Overseas Assurance Company for 18 years before he resigned to stand for the 1959 general election in Singapore. He became the Member of Parliament for Geylang West from 30 May 1959 to 22 January 1979. He was in Singapore's first Cabinet and served as a Cabinet minister from 1959 to 1976. His portfolios included Education, Health and Communications. From 1975 to 1977, Yong was appointed Singapore's High Commissioner to the United Kingdom.
