Ivane Javakhishvili, Georgian historian and academic (b. 1876)
Ivane Javakhishvili (Georgian: ივანე ჯავახიშვილი, 23 April 1876 – 18 November 1940) was a Georgian and Soviet historian and linguist whose voluminous works heavily influenced the modern scholarship of the history and culture of Georgia. He was also one of the founding fathers of the Tbilisi State University (1918) and its rector from 1919 to 1926.
