In the United States, Independence Day –the National Day of the country– is a federal holiday that celebrates the Declaration of Independence of the United States on the 4th of July, 1776. On that day, the thirteen American colonies were declared as independent states; no longer under the reign of the British monarchs.

Independence Day is habitually observed on the 4th of July every year, and it is usually celebrated with fireworks, barbecues, family gatherings, and political speeches. Additionally, several public and private events are held to commemorate the history and traditions of the United States.
